It's the first Sunday of February and every Precure fan knows what that means... A new Precure season has started! Titled "Wonderful Precure" with the main theme being animals. Even if I have yet to finish Hirogaru Sky, I still start the new season out of habit. I do intend to finish Hirogaru one day, but enough of that.
Some other things of note are that this season is where we will get our 1000th episode of Precure and also the first season that is also simulcast in Europe (why did it take you 4 years Toei?). So that's cool.
I will also not write a plot summary here so for full context watch the episode yourself. I am also not a very analytical/critical person so I will just talk about stuff I liked. I will not give ratings for that reason.
But enough of that, some disjointed thoughts from me:
Animal Town seems to be a nice place. I wonder if a moving requirement there is to own a pet though.
There seems to be a romantic subplot happening but I hope it isn't a huge part of the story. I do hope Satoru becomes a cure. They need a midseason so c'mon now. You had Cure Wing last season. We can have another boy in the team this season too.
Mayu seemed quite relatable to me. Hiding at the first sign of being perceived. I hope it's more elaborated upon and something for her to improve upon over the series. (Or be somewhat relevant.) It would be nice as someone with pretty bad social anxiety myself.
Interesting how there are no villains shown yet. They will more than likely come later but not knowing who is corrupting animals is scary.
I liked Cure Wonderful's transformation. It was quite smooth I feel but it did feel like it went by very quickly.
The fight was nice. Not the best the series has to offer, but I liked it well enough. It also seems like there are no finishers this season? It might change though. I do like how they take a more "empathetic" approach though. Understanding that someone might be in pain, understanding that, and helping them with kindness. Although it also could also be that they have duo finishers instead.
I do wonder how they deal with the whole "Komugi is now a human" thing. This seems to be answered in Episode 2 though based on the preview.
Ending CGI seemed great to me. I am not experienced in 3D at all though. The song though is far from a favorite to me but it is fine for what it is.
I quite liked Episode 1 myself. Although the thing with Episode 1's are supposed to be good to make sure you continue watching so let's see where the series goes as time goes on. But for now, a very cute episode. Anyway, thank you for reading.
